Suggested setups

Pulling a web show into a new show, Spelvin suggests its layers, shots and stand-ins.

A suggested setup is a layer setup Spelvin makes for one web show. When you pull a web show into a new show, Start From offers Suggested by Spelvin beside Standard, Blank and your own setups. Spelvin reads the web show and proposes the layers, shots and stand-ins it needs.

Spelvin reads what the platform knows about the show: its sections, parts and presenters, the files linked to it, and up to 60 other files of the company, by name and kind. From that it answers a summary, the reasons for its choices, and the changes that build the setup from Blank: layers to add or rename, stand-ins to add, and shots of those sources.

The same changes are what the chat can propose. See The chat.

Nothing is asked until you click Suggest. The sheet then shows Spelvin’s summary and its reasons. Create stays off until there is a suggestion; it makes the show from that setup. Suggest Again asks once more.

Spelvin’s answer is checked twice, on the server and again on the Mac. An answer that would not apply goes back to Spelvin once with the reason.

A suggested setup is a starting point. After Create, you change layers, shots and stand-ins as in any show, and link the stand-ins to your real sources. See Layer setups and Stand-ins and linking.

The choice is for this web show only. The next New Show starts from the last other setup you chose.

Suggested by Spelvin appears when you pull a web show into a new show, while the Studio is signed in to a platform that offers Spelvin. See Create a show on the web.

Each Suggest and Suggest Again counts one action. A failed try costs nothing. See Actions and limits.
