Published versions

A show edited on the web is published as a version; the Studio follows it.

A web show on Live Producer Platform has a draft, which the team edits together, and published versions, numbered 1, 2, 3. The Studio only ever takes a published version, never the draft. Publishing is how a change reaches the Mac that runs the show.

On the web, Publish Version N makes the draft the next version, with an optional note of what changed. The versions are kept, so the team can see what each one changed.

A show in the Studio is linked to one web show. Linking gives it a folder on this Mac and pulls the published version through the import sheet, where you choose which sources play which roles. From then on, the Studio follows that web show. Linking never puts anything on the program.

With Showrunner › Follow the Web Show on (the default, per Mac), a new published version lands by itself, also during the show. It lands between Takes, never during a transition. A part that the version removes stays on air until the next Take. The web show bar then says what the version brought; Dismiss clears that line.

With it off, versions wait: the web show bar offers Fetch Version N, and Showrunner › Pull Version N… brings it in through the update sheet. Turn it off for a rehearsal you do not want changed under you.

What a version replaces, and what it keeps

Section titled “What a version replaces, and what it keeps”

A version replaces the rundown’s content: sections, parts, words, slide marks, presenters’ names and titles, cues, links and times. It keeps what is this Mac’s: which source plays which role, the layers, the media folder, presenters’ photos, and the shots. Sections and parts found again keep their identity, notes and shots, and get the new words and times. A new part gets its material. A removed part leaves the rundown; its shots stay.

What the operator decides at the desk is never part of a version: running a part’s recording instead of the live take, or correcting the deck by a click. Those are not saved.
